Liturgical Ministries
This Ministry involves preparing the worship space for celebrations. Duties include light housekeeping, cleaning of the vessels used in liturgies, maintaining Father’s vestments and the Altar Server cassocks and surplices. Our Sacristan also decorates the altar according to the seasons of the Church. There are only a few weeks in the year when it is liturgically correct for the sanctuary to be bare, ie. without flowers, etc. During the rest of the year, we invite your talent and ideas to dress up the area in front of the ambo, altar and tabernacle.
Welcome parishioners and visitors to our weekend Masses as our parish family gathers together to celebrate Eucharist.
This is a Ministry that the whole family can do together and requires approximately 1/2 an hour of your time once a month. The Hospitality ministry also participates at special parish events or services, as requested.
We invite boys and girls, Grade 4 to 12, from either parochial or public school to participate. You will assist Father with Mass and other liturgical celebrations including funerals and weddings. Training, dedication to the Lord and faithful commitment are required. Your name will be placed on a schedule for either weekend Mass.
Lectors proclaim the readings from the Old and New Testaments at Mass. Potential lectors should have certain natural gifts such as strong and clear voices and have confidence, maturity, and sensitivity to not only reach the ears of the people, but their hearts and minds as well. Through study and prayer, the lector develops an understanding of the Word of God and its importance in our celebration of faith. Regular lectors are grouped in teams of two, with each team scheduled at a weekend Mass once every four weeks or be one of our replacements.
As a result of Vatican II, this ministry is a restored privilege of the laity. One who has a special devotion and service to the Holy Eucharist will be trained and mandated by our Diocese. You will be placed on a schedule with one or two others, scheduled at a weekend Mass every four weeks or be one of our replacements.
Our music ministry is always open to new members for vocals and instrumental. Come share your gift with your fellow parishioners at either Mass. We also have a need for singers and instrumentalists to minister at funerals, weddings and other special celebrations.
September through June, at our Sunday Mass, we gather together our young members, ages 4 & 5 and 6 to 8, for their own Liturgy of the Word. An opportunity to share your faith and help the children learn about the readings of the day.
